He now "roaches" comfortably on the doggie bed. But,for some reason he is still very shy around guys. However, he just loves my husband and spends the day curled up next to him under the desk in the office. He loves to walk and does it very well. Doesn't pull at all. The highlight of his day is when we walk the neighborhood in the evening when the bunnies come out! He walks with his head held high, ears perked up, eyes focused scanning the yards looking for the little cotton tails.
He can be very playful, and loves to chew on a knotted rope toy, and nylabone. I had to take the suffies away because he just destroys them in a couple of minutes. He also has a thing for flip-flops...especially if you don't get up quick enough to feed him his breakfast! He's great in the house. He hasn't counter surfed, and will leave the kitchen area when told to do so.

We have had big storms come through and he hasn't shown signs of anxiety, or storm phobia.

He is alert to what's going on around him, and will bark when someone comes to the door, unlike my 2 greys who could care less. He's not too sure what to make of children. They still scare him a bit, so he's not comfortable around them.

He continues to get along great with my greyhounds and follows their lead.

Did I mention that he's a great fly catcher!! When a fly gets in the house I can count on Jaunt to get rid of it for me! He'll corner it in a window and with a snap of his jaw it's gone. YUCK! Quite a character this Mr.Jaunt!

What a Sweet Jaunt!

After a few weeks in my home Jaunt is starting to come out of his shell. Although shy, he loves the company of my 2 greys. They have really helped to build his confidence, especially on walks through the neighborhood. Btw, he's an excellent walker, doesn't pull at all. I can say that he is completely housebroken. Even though I have another male in the house, Jaunt has never marked. Actually, he doesn't even try to mark the the mail box posts or shrubs when we're out walking.
He's a quiet boy who spends the day curled up on a doggie bed next to Carlos while he works on the computer. He's still learning to relax around men (and boys), but he warms up quickly to the ladies. He's been okay with Misha, the mean old cat.

He has the cutest face that just melts your heart when he looks at you with those big brown eyes. This sweet boy has come a long way. Now it's time for him to jaunt right into your heart and home.

Jaunt's 2 weeks with us

My family had the pleasure of hosting Jaunt for two weeks until his "real" foster family returned from vacation.

Jaunt is a shy boy. He has huge, expressive eyes and watches everything you do. At first, he was really reserved. But, within two days he started wagging at me and gave me kisses! He also started "collecting" toys around the dog bed, which he determined was better than the floor. It was funny to come in and see a bunch of toys surrounding Jaunt on the dog bed! He doesn't chew them (like our Pointer does); he just collects them.

Jaunt is 100% housetrained, which really surprised us. He did not have a single accident while he was with us. He seems VERY intelligent, and within a few days seemed to truly understand "out." He is good on a leash, but loud sounds frighten him (like the garage door opening while he is near it). He's never heard these sounds before, so that is to be expected. He just needs to be eased into new situations.

Stairs were a challenge in the beginning. But, after a short time, he navigated them just fine...even the "open" stairs to the deck outside. He is a quick learner! I was so proud of how adaptive he was! I could literally see him learning day by day. To go from a kennel situation (for years) to a house and all these new experiences...I'm sure most of us can't imagine how hard this would be, and Jaunt did a fabulous job absorbing it all.

Jaunt has good manners. He does not jump up on people or furniture (unlike my Pointer!). He does not beg. He is a real gentleman.

We miss Jaunt a lot. My youngest (10 year old) cried and cried when he left. Jaunt was so sweet and well-behaved that he was no trouble at all. He truly is a good dog with a tender disposition. I know that, with love and attention, he will really blossom. In the short time we had him, he developed so much. We could see the "dog" in him coming out...wagging his tail more and more, racing to see what was outside, getting happy when it was dinner time. He is a keeper, and I think he will only get better and better. He deserves a loving home!
